Norman security software

Every computer connected to the Inter­net must fulfil three basic requirements:

1. It must run an anti­virus program all the time.
2. It must run a fire­wall all the time.
3. All soft­ware must be kept up to date.

On most computers, a security breach could lead to exposure of confidential information, such as banking credentials, credit card numbers, and/or address book contents.

Even if you feel you have no information of value to an attacker, you are still responsible for preventing criminals from using your computer and your Inter­net connection to commit fraud, or to launch attacks on other computers. Such crimes are not only harmful to innocent third parties, but may also incriminate you.

If you have not already protected yourself, or if your soft­ware is out­dated, now would be a great time to select, purchase and install a suitable product from the list on the left.

Use this EICAR test file to determine whether your anti­virus program is working.

Although the file is harm­less, virus scanners should, by consensus, react to it as if it were a virus.

However, this test does not check for freshness, so please remember to also keep your anti­virus soft­ware updated!
